Hook Hua
Hook Hua is a member of the High Capability Computing and Modeling Group at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA. His current work includes technology-portfolio assessment, human-robot task planning & scheduling, temporal resource scheduling, and analysis modeling. He developed the software frameworks used for constrained optimization utilizing binary integer programming and genetic algorithms. More recently, he was involved in the development of planning and scheduling software used for optimizing lunar human-robotic task activities. Hook was also the lead in the development of OWL-based ontology knowledge bases and expert systems with reasoning to represent the various aspects of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar processing software. He is also currently working on the design and development of distributed software architectures and middle-ware frameworks for integration of heterogeneous codes. This includes development of Web Services-based distributed systems used for analyzing a JPL instrument model. Hook is also currently the Principle Investigator on a task to develop a distributed service-oriented architecture for accessing AIRS NEWS Level 2 data that will be used to study long-term and global-scale atmospheric trends. Hook received a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also received a B.S. in Applied Mathematics.
